Lester Eugene Gorman, age 84, of Osawatomie, Kansas, formerly of Paola, died December 2, 2013 at the Osawatomie Life Care Center.

Lester was born March 26, 1929 at Marianna, Arkansas. He was one of four children born to Lester E. and Clara June (Cantrell) Gorman.

Lester served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He entered the Army on November 30, 1951 and was honorably discharged on November 4, 1953 having earned the rank of Corporal.

He was united in marriage to Vivian Vance on August 7, 1960 at Oswego, Kansas. They became the parents of two children, Michael and Lori.

Lester was a coal miner. He worked for Pittsburg Midway Coal Company for 22 years, retiring in 1989.

Fishing and hunting were his two main hobbies, but his favorite pastime was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Bill and Jack, and one sister Juanita Minor. He is survived by his wife Vivian of Osawatomie; his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Susan Gorman of Osawatomie; his daughter Lori Gorman of Overland Park; two grandchildren Jordan and Vance; one great granddaughter Claire; and many other relatives and friends.
