Janet Panner Lewis

Janet was born October 20, 1928 to Elmer N. and Irene Murphy Panner. She was raised and attended schools in Shawnee, Oklahoma with her older brother, Owen M. Panner, and older sister, Mary Anne Panner Price.

She attended Oklahoma University, where she met her husband to be, Ted E. Lewis, who had just returned from serving in World War II.

Janet and Ted were married on January 30, 1949, in her parents’ home during a big snow storm. They became the parents of three children, Gordon, Gregg and Irene Murphy. Janet was a homemaker, ran a travel agency for a short time and loved to play golf with Ted and her friends. “JP”, as Ted often called her, has given her body to KU Medical Center, the same as Ted did. Her spirit is forever with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Janet is survived by her three children; six grandchildren, Melanie, Matt, Katie, Peter, London and Sarah; and five great-grandchildren, Pierce, Quinn, Anthony, Tristan and Reed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Osawatomie.
